More on the Mustang product

DSC_4423.JPG

I'd like to say a bit more on the Mustang product that we're preparing, so that everybody knows what exactly to expect.

The car will be an approximate scale model of the 2011 Ford Mustang. It will feature front Macpherson suspension, with a lower L arm and rack and pinion steering. The rear suspension will be a live axle, guided with 4 links and coilover springs and dampers. It'll have unibody construction, realistic locking doors, hood and trunklid. Estimated target weight of the car without engine and with wheels is about 3.2 kilograms

The basic car package will not include a drivetrain.

You will be able to mount any 1:8 rc car wheels on the car that have a 17hex mount. We will probably make the wheels an option on the product order page. In order to mount the wheels we will supply the adapter, which will be included in the price.

The car will make use of a few more modified pieces, which costumers will of course get with the purchase.

Since the instructions of the car body itself will be made in Lego Digital Designer (LDD), we are thinking of not supplying the building materials for the car ourself. LDD makes it possible to simply order it from the lego store. And you can even choose the color of the car yourself.

The car will have a very large engine bay and gearbox tunnel, allowing you to power it with a wide range of possible engine/gearbox combinations. Either you use one of our engines, or build your own, or even use electric motors. It is up to you.

LPEpower mustang product

I'd like to inform everybody that the development of the LPEpower mustang product is in full swing. The front suspension geometry is finalised. No bump steer, perfect wheel alignment, suspension bridge has integrated engine mounts. Also, the engine bay is gigantic, and is able to fit almost any engine configuration imaginable. Even engines bigger than the LPEpower V8.

You can follow the progress of the development on nicjasno's twitter feed.

New costumer review online

We have a new costumer review online. Ole from norway described his expirience with a custom V4 engine.

Price changes

Dear customers!

From now on, both the I3 and V8 come with the new TRANS-LIGHT BLUE cylinders and we managed to lower the prices yet again!
In our humble opinion, these are the best looking color combinations yet, and since we did some more fine tuning, both engines run even better!

NEW smoking hot prices:

I3 - 129 € ( $187 )

V8 - 299 € ( $433 )

Dollar prices are valid for the day this article was written.

LPEpower is drifting for you

We were invited to a local lego meet in slovenia, organized by the friendly people of Kockeklub. Naturally the capabilities of the LPEpower engines had to be shown. And how to best show them if not with some nice drifting action:

Power without control

crash2

Here's what happens if you loose control of an LPEpower powered and 5 kg heavy car. Pitty that we were not able to capture the crash on video, but at least we have some pictures. The crash happened on the sunday afternoon when we were making the LPEpower V8 videos. All of the videos were shot after the crash, so what you see in the videos is the repaired car. Out of fear that the differential would break again, we did not apply the full throttle from the get-go. This will be tried out the next time.
