Custom wheel adapters part 1

The LPEpower Mustang utilizes special wheel adapters to be able to fit wheels from 1:8 r/c cars to the lego turntables.

I decided to use non Lego wheels, because as you can see on the pictures, the normal lego wheels are just too small and too wide. I know that nowdays there's Lego wheels that are narrower, but their diameter is still too small and they don't have enough room inside the rim itself, to make a proper realistic suspension.

I started to use turntables as wheel hubs a bit later, because once you can fix a wheel to the rotating part of the turntable, you eliminate the weakest link in a lego suspension, the soft axle. The normal 3 pin lego suspension parts used in most new "supercars", offroaders and the unimog do get rid of the axle, but they're still very limited. Especially the offroader/enzo hubs allow only 1 type of suspension (double wishbone) and use the small balljoints, which in themselves have so much play, that it's not even funny.

So i decided to create wheel adapters to fit onto Lego turntables. This allowed me to have a lot of room inside of the wheel. I had now a wheel bearing that has as little play as possible for a lego part and i can make any type of suspension.

There's one catch though. The manufacturing of the adapters is not very straightforward and the results vary greatly. It's basically impossible to center them and the process of making them is very time consuming. So i'm asking you, my  readers, for help and ideas on how to make this better. Yes, 3d printing would be ideal of course, but that's way out of our price range. Another good idea would be if Lego would make a part like that, but that's wishfull thinking.
